Baldia fire: PM Ashraf given notice for allegedly interfering in case

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) here on Monday has issued notices to Principal Secretary of Prime Minster Raja Pervez Ashraf for allegedly influencing the case of Baldia Town Factory fire that leads to the death of over 290 people in Karachi, reported Aaj News.

A local NGO had submitted a petition in the court requesting to take notice of interference by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in the Baldia Fire case and has asked the court to declare the interference as illegal.

As it was reported that, the murder charges against the factory owners has been dropped on the directives of PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf last week.

Therefore, the court issued notices to four concerned authorities including Ayub Qazi, the Principal secretary of Prime minister, Chief secretary Sindh, IG Sindh, and Home Secretary.

All of them were also directed to appear before the court on February 14.
