LAHORE: About 60,000 security officials, including policemen and officials, from the Punjab Constabulary, and Qaumi Razakar will be deployed for security duties in the province on Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (PBUH).
It was decided in a high-level meeting presided over by Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Khan Baig at the Central Police Office here on Wednesday to review security arrangements on Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (PBUH).
Police would provide security cover to more than 1,469 processions and 1,249 Mahafil-e-Milad to be held all over the province. At least 18 additional platoons from the Punjab Constabulary would also be deployed on duties as per the requests made by different districts of the province.
The IGP has also directed to all RPOs and DPOs to ensure proper security arrangements in their respective districts in the light of recommendations given by the CPO and the Home Department regarding Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (PBUH).
On this occasion, the IGP underlined that all events and processions related to Eid Milad would not only be monitored but also participants should be scanned through the metal detectors at the entry and exit points.
The IGP directed the RPOs and DPOs to evolve a special traffic plan in their respective districts to maintain smooth flow of traffic besides providing safe passage to the participants on routes of events and processions.
