TTP takes responsibility for Hamid Mir bomb plot

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attempted attack on senior journalist and TV anchor, Hamir Mir.

The TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan speaking with a news channel here, claimed that the the attack was planned by TTP to eliminate Hamid Mir and warned anyone who is working on a secular agenda of more attacks.

According to Ehsanullah Ehsan, Hamid Mir was attacked because he was pursuing a secular agenda and defying the laws and principles of Islam in doing so.

He threatened that anyone targeting the Taliban will be attacked.

Hamid Mir is a senior journalist currently working for Geo TV who escaped a bomb which was planted beneath his car under the driver’s seat.

Mr. Mir was out shopping in an Islamabad market when the bomb was planted under his car, it was upon his return home that he discovered a metal box containing an explosive device strapped beneath his car.

However, the bomb squad was called upon immediately and the half kilo bomb was successfully defused.
