A man in an Indian village near Patna married off his wife, a mother of two, to his brother-in-law after he found that the two loved each other and wanted to live together. While allowing his wife to marry his brother-in-law, the man also handed over his children to the new couple.
The marriage was sanctified on Tuesday evening in Nawani village in Jhanjharpur block of Madhubani district, some 150 kilo metres north of Patna. The entire ceremony was filmed by the villagers and was submitted as proof within local district administration to avoid any legal issues.
Sharavan Kumar called off his six year old marriage with Ranju Devi when he got to know that she was in love with his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Ravindra Chaudhry. Chaudhry had come to live in Kumar’s house two years ago and both Ravindra and Ranju fell in love during that time frame.
According to family sources, Ranju had eloped with Ravindra earlier but she returned later. THe family tried to resolve the troubled marriage between Ranju and Sharavan but all of it went in vain.
This ultimately led Sharavan to call up a gathering and marry-off her wife to Ravindra simultaneously handing over his children to them.
