Every day, at least 2 people become patients of Diabetes in Pakistan

Diabetes is spreading rapidly in the world and 10 million people are suffering from it in the country which needs urgent attention. This was stated by an expert of the disease, Dr Javed Akram, while talking in a programme on Tuesday arranged by an NGO, Akhuwat Health Services (AHS), in connection with World Diabetes Day.

He said that after every eight seconds, two persons become patients of the disease besides killing one person.

Another expert and consultant of diabetes, Dr Ali Saqlain Haider, said that if diabetes was not managed properly by a patient, it could damage the kidney.

Prominent psychiatrist Dr Asmat Laghari said that social problems, domestic disputes and improper lifestyle might lead to a fast spread of the disease. All speakers urged high-ups of the health department to take notice of the gravity of the situation.
