RAWALPINDI: An Anti-terrorism court released the cleric of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz along with 20 others in the Rangers murder case, Monday.
Maulana Abdul Aziz was freed today — nearly five years after siege at Islamabad’s Red Mosque that left 90 people dead, including Aziz’s son and brother.
A Civil Judge in an Islamabad court exonerated him as the public prosecutors failed to prove anything against him.
Aziz was indicted along with 20 others, including his wife Umme Hassan and his daughter Tayyaba, in a case involving the murder of a Rangers official during the 2007 Lal Masjid operation.
A case against the accused was registered on July 3, 2007.
