Electronics equipment worth millions of rupees reduced to ashes when fire broke out in multi-storey shopping plaza (Auriga Centre) at Main Bulevard Gulberg here on Friday evening.
The fire broke out in fourth floor of the building where offices of a cellular company (WATEEN) were located.
On receiving information, seventeen vehicles of fire brigade, and other rescue teams reached at the scene and tried to extinguish the fire.
Chief Officer of Wateen Company Naeem told the mediamen that sixteen employees including security guards of the company were safely evacuated from the two floors (Third and fourth) which were totally destroyed by the fire and other floors are also getting damage as fire spread out.
Shopkeepers of ground floor and basement were able to safe their entire merchandise as soon as they were informed about fire. The entire area around the building was engulfed by thick smoke and the traffic was diverted to the side road.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesman, four persons were injured in the fire incident who were rushed to Services and Jinnah Hospitals. The injured have been identified as Muhammad Ali (22), Imran (25), Anwar (29) and Ghafar.
He said that 80 percent fire had been controlled.
