Govt mobilizing all resources to help affected people in Sindh

Federal and provincial governments have been mobilizing all the resources to help the affected people in Sindh following unprecedented monsoon rains that has so far killed over 150 people and destroyed crops and houses throughout the province. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 4.9 million people have been affected as their houses have been damaged by recent flood, which has hit an area of 5,144,699 acres along the left bank of Indus River.
Total 22 districts of Sindh, namely Badin, TM Khan, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Thatta, Tando Allayar, Naushero Feroze, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Dadu, Shahdad Kot, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Ghotki, Larkana and Matiari, have been affected by the flood.
The flood has damaged 271,677 houses compleletly and 699,468 partially. Some 64,000 cattle head perished while crops on 1.7 million acres have been destroyed or affected by the rains. The destroyed crops mostly include cash crops like cotton, banana, dates, chili, onion and sugarcane.
The first spell of rains hit the affected areas on August 11 and the rain spell is still continuing causing more trouble for the affected people.
