2 troops, policeman killed in Dagestan

Two Russian Interior Ministry troops and a policeman have been killed in attacks in the violence-plagued region of Dagestan.

Dagestan police also report they destroyed a car bomb on a central street in the town of Khasavyurt, one of the region’s most violent areas.

Regional ministry spokesman Vyachelsav Gasanov said the two Interior Ministry troops were killed Wednesday near Khasavyurt when they were fired on by suspected militants. He says two insurgents were killed when the troops returned fire.
