Newly-elected President of PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that his party had competent economic experts who could steer the country out of present economic crisis.
“If people reposed confidence in my leadership in the next general elections, I have a team of competent economic experts to rectify the present economic situation,” he said while addressing participants of Party’s General Council meeting here at Convention Centre.
He said he would have made Pakistan ‘Asian Tiger’ had his governments not been toppled.
Nawaz Sharif dilated on his previous tenures as Prime Minister and narrated the number of achievements of his governments. These issues ranged from nuclear tests to economy and relations with the arch rival India.
Nawaz Sharif said his party would continue to extend its support to the judiciary and claimed that his party even quit the coalition government on this issue.
He asserted that the federal government was not implementing the decisions of Supreme Court in letter and spirit.
He said the government could save Rs.1,500 million per annum by introducing reforms in institutions of the state and improving the tax collection system.
The PML-N chief also criticised former President Pervez Musharraf and his policies.
He said that the Punjab government led by Shahbaz Sharif was serving the people by introducing several schemes including Sasti Roti, Green Tractors, Danish School System, health services and housing facilities etc.
Addressing the participants, outgoing PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif criticised the present government policies.
He also vowed to continue his support for the judiciary for rule of law in the country, adding,” We are ready to sacrifice the provincial government of Punjab and even resign from assemblies for the supremacy of judiciary.”
