Absence of ministries’ officials from NA lobby annoys: Kundi

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday expressed concern over the absence of officials of three ministries and divisions, within mentioning their names, from the proceeding of the National Assembly, referring the matter to the Privilege Committee for an action.

He urged all Ministries and Divisions, whose matters are taken up in the House, to ensure presence of their secretaries and additional secretaries during the proceeding.

The Deputy Speaker had also taken note of absence of ministries’ officials from National Assembly lobby during the question-hour session on Wednesday.

Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah appreciated the Deputy Speaker for running the business of the Lower House of the Parliament in an efficient and smooth manner.

He said he had no objection on any action from the chair against the responsible officials.

He said it was for the first time during this tenure that the Question-Hour session had been completed timely on Thursday, adding that efforts were being made to take up maximum agenda items.

The Minister stressed the members of National Assembly for regularly attending the House as questions put up by them goes waste due to their absence.
