US stocks open lower after Dow hits 2-year high


US stocks opened lower Wednesday amid a lack of positive news and a day after the bellwether Dow index hit a new two-year high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 11.12 points (0.09 percent) at 12,222.03 in early trades, while the broader S&P 500 index was down 3.32 points (0.25 percent) at 1,321.25.

The tech stock-weighted Nasdaq Composite index fell 5.91 points (0.21 percent) to 2,791.14.
