Sugar shortage at USC outlets due to bad weather

Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has sufficient stock of sugar but some of its outlets in far-flung areas are facing shortage due to transportation problem.

Spokesman of the Corporation said that due to bad weather conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the trailers carrying sugar could not reach their destination in time which resulted the scarcity of sugar in remote areas of the province.

“Normally the trailers which take 4-5 days to reach their respective franchises of USC, they are taking 15-20 days now due to rains and snow fall in those areas”, he added.

He said that as soon as the weather becomes clear the situation regarding the availability of commodity would get normal.
