Quake measuring 4.8 hits upper areas

An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale shook upper parts of the country on Wednesday morning at 9:36 am.

According to the Meteorological Department the quake had its epicentre 100 km (65 miles) of Gilgit, Kashmir at a depth of 13.9 km.

Tremors were felt in Gilgit, Mansehra, Balakot and Chitral.

People left their homes in panic though there were no reports of damage or casualties, officials said.
