Players involved in cricket scam tarnished country’s image: Iqbal Qasim

Former Chief Selector Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Iqbal Qasim has said that the players involved in spot fixing, had damaged the image of Pakistan cricket team as well as the country at international level.

The involved players should be charged not only in accordance with international cricket rules but also by Pakistan Cricket Board, the Ex-chief selector PCB said.

He said that there was no star player in the present cricket team  like team like Waqar Yunus, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Saeed Anwar,

Therefore, the team must struggle further for competing in the World Cup matches.

This he said while talking to media after inaugural ceremony of an emergency ward’s up-gradation at Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas in his capacity as head of National Bank of Pakistan’s Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Department.

Iqbal Qasim said that the decision for appointing Shahid Afridi as captain of Pakistan cricket team was good, but in the present cricket team chances are very slim for success.

He said Pakistan has given every thing including status, money, living standard to the players, but the cricketers unfortunately involved themselves in spot fixing.

Qasim said that National Bank with its CSR project, is working in different social sectors in government and private organisations, especially in health and education and in this regard the inaugural of this project at Civil Hospital is also part of NBP’s CSR contribution.

He said that more than 40 projects were in the pipeline throughout the country and Mirpurkhas was the first district of Sindh where an up-to-date and modern emergency ward has been established by NBP.

On this occasion District Administrator Ghulam Hussain Memon, DPO Zulfiqar Mahar, EDO Health Dr. Shafqat Hussain Dahri and others were also present.
