PIA had to suffer over Rs 2 billion loss and around 50,000 passengers at 40 airports inside and outside the country were affected by the four-day protest of employees.
General Manager, Public Affairs, Mamoon Rasheed told APP that the annual deficit of the airline which was already at Rs 13 billion in 2010 was likely to surpass Rs 15 billion during the current fiscal year.
He said that over 400 international and domestic flights were cancelled during the four-day protest. The employees protest earned a bad name to the airline and damaged its image amongst passengers not only inside but also outside the country which would take time to improve.
He said employees should now work hard for the betterment of the airline as their demands had been met. He stressed extending complete cooperation to the new Managing Director for larger interest of the airline and curtail the deficit.
