Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Wednesday that the new Federal Cabinet would work with less members and it would be announced soon.
He said there was a debate in national media while opposition was also demanding a small size of the Cabinet as part of the austerity measures.
In a telephonic conversation with PTV, he said the members of Federal Cabinet have resigned and this decision would have positive affects on national economy.
When asked about the new cabinet, he said, “Whatever the decision our leadership takes, it would be accepted by all.”
He said Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has appreciated the performance of Cabinet members and termed it as satisfactory.
The Minister said during the Cabinet meeting, all the members thanked the Prime Minister for showing great respect to them and supporting them in discharging of their official duties to improve governance in the country.
The members, Kaira said also commended the Prime Minister’s initiatives taken for progress of the country and welfare of masses.
“We have learned many things from Prime Minister and followed his advises while addressing issues,” Kaira said.
He said the Prime Minister is a man of tolerance who always faced criticism from the opposition side and tried his best to remove their concerns on the vital national issues. He took all the political parties onboard while taking decisions on the national matters.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said the Cabinet members assured the Prime Minister that their affections will remain with the government and the country whether they are selected or not in the new Cabinet.
Replying to a question, he said the country was facing many challenges including on financial front and hoped the government would be able to save some finances by cutting size of the Cabinet.
He said coalition partners would decide about their party members that who will be included in the new cabinet.
