MQM, PML-Q agree to work together for national unity

Deputy Convenor Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar and PLN-Q chief Ch. Shujaat Hussain have agreed unanimously on new working relationship for national unity.

The consensus to this effect was reached at a meeting between PML-Q and MQM Co-ordination Committee comprising Babar Ghauri, Raza Haroon, Wasim Aftab and Iftikhar Akbar Randhawa held at PML-Q house here on Sunday.

Addressing on the occasion, Farooq Sattar said that PML-Q and MQM were kingmaker parties since 1988 but now we have to play a role of king producers.

He said that the MQM would maintain working relationship with PML-Q in the larger interest of the country, adding that get-together of both parties was itself a charter of democracy and both the parties would take practical measures in future in this regard.

He said that MQM would continue its struggle for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Pakistan.

Terrorism, unemployment and poverty are the major issues of Pakistan, he said and added that it would be top priority of both parties to resolve the same.

He said that local bodies system was indispensable for the promotion of democracy in the country. He vowed to bring revolution for the elimination of the corrupt system in the country.

“MQM is in favour of election through peaceful balloting system but if anybody tried to create hurdle in making the  system transparent, the people will come on roads like the people of Tunis and Egypt,” he said.

He thanked the PML-Q leadership for extending warm welcome to them in Lahore and invite PML-Q, on behalf of MQM chief Altaf Hussain to attend public meeting of MQM to be held on April 10 at Minar-e-Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the PML-Q chief CH. Shujaat Hussain while addressing the gathering said that we would work with MQM only one-point agenda of people’s welfare.

He also demanded for the restoration of local bodies system in Punjab. He alleged the Punjab government was not paying full attention towards raising the living standard of the common man in the province.

Earlier, former Chief Minister Punjab Ch. Pervaiz Elahi in his address highlighted the performance of his party during his tenure in Punjab. He said that introducing rescue 1122, patrolling police, traffic wardens, Education Reforms Project, Child Protection Bureau, Construction of 37,000 KM roads, elimination of tax on 5-marla houses were the salient features of his government.

MQM senator Babar Ghuri also expressed his views on this occasion.
