LHC grants protective bail to Kazmi

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday granted protective bail to former Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi till February 17.

The court directed Kazmi to submit surety bonds of Rs.5 million in LHC Multan bench and approached the concerned court.

Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry passed the order on a bail plea filed by the Kazmi through his counsel Khurram Latif Khan Khosa submitting that the apex court took suo motu notice of Hajj irregularities and the matter was still pending which would be heard on February 15.

He contended that FIA’s move to arrest the petitioner was tainted with malafide intensions as petitioner was not nominated in FIR.

He pleaded the court to grant protective bail as he wanted to appear before the court but FIA might arrest him before hearing.

After hearing arguments, the court disposing of the plea granted protective bail to Kazmi till February 17.
