Former Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Wednesday that lawyers’ community played a pivotal role for the promotion of democracy in the country.
He said the sacrifices of the lawyers will never go waste and dispensation of justice will be ensured on merit.
He made these remarks while speaking at Rawalpindi District Bar here.
Lauding lawyers role in ending dictatorship and restoring democracy he said, Accountability is possible only by good governance and transparency.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that lawyers would have to continue their struggle for strengthening democratic institutions as they did in the past.
On the issue of Raymond Davis, a US national who killed two Pakistanis in Lahore, he said that the foreign office documents proved that Davis did not enjoy immunity and this sensitive case would be decided by the courts.
