200 flights cancelled; PIA suffers Rs 2 bln loss

National flag carrier, PIA has so far suffered a loss of Rs 2 billion due to cancellation of over 200 flights as protest of PIA employees entered into fourth consecutive day across the country.

General Manager Public Affairs Mamoon Rasheed told APP here on Friday that many employees had contacted the management to resume their duty but the activists of Joint Action Committee not only tortured them but also forced them to stay away from their offices.

He claimed that the activists forcibly snatched technical log from the crew of the planes at the Islamabad Airport to restrict the take off many line up flights.

Scores of passengers are in severe distress as they are stranded at various destinations. Many of them could not join their duties after spending vacation in Pakistan and many destinations outside the country.
