UN chief slams Taseer’s assassination

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned Tuesday’s assassination of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer as a “loss for Pakistan”, his spokesman said. The UN chief has extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and to the government and people of Pakistan, his spokesman Martin Nesirky told the regular news briefing Tuesday. Governor Taseer was shot at close range by one of his guards as he was getting into his car in Islamabad’s Kohsar Market.
