Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday ordered two deputy registrars, who are working on contract basis and posted at Lahore and Karachi registries, to relinquish the charge of their offices.
The services of Registrar of Supreme Court Dr Faqir Hussain on contract basis were found in order and as per rules. However, he was ordered to leave the charge of Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan and Senior Joint Secretary Habib-ur-Rehman was given additional charge in his place.
The orders were made in the light of a recent judgement passed by the Supreme Court while hearing suo moto case No. 24 of 2010 about Hajj arrangements corruption case, in which it had directed the Secretary, Establishment Division and the provincial chief secretaries to ensure that if any civil servant or other person who has been re-employed, his case be examined in accordance with the provisions of law.
