The Ministry of Sports and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will hold a meeting on January 25 to finalise proposed amendments in the PCB constitution, the sport ministry spokesman told APP on Saturday.
The PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt called on Secretary Sports Aziz Ahmed Bilour’s in his office Thursday and discussed constitution and other related issues of mutual interest.
Earlier, the ministry and PCB met under the chairmanship of Sports Minister Mir Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani on July 6, 2010 to revisit the new draft PCB constitution for consideration of certain amendments proposed by PCB.
The meeting was held on the request of PCB chairman made at the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Sports on April 27, 2010.
During the July 6 meeting it was mutually agreed to convene another meeting in the first week of August 2010 which could not materialise owing to massive floods in the country and spot-fixing fiasco that hit hard on the PCB.
The spokesman has said that PCB has never refused to hold meetings in order to finalise the remaining few clauses of the PCB constitution which is already in place.
Once the constitution in finalised, the sports ministry shall send it to Ministry of Law and Justice for vetting, he concluded.
