Some vested groups targeting each other in Karachi: Kaira

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Sunday that target killing in Karachi is neither a political nor an ethnic issue, adding that some groups were targeting each other for their vested interests, who would soon be arrested.Talking to various delegations of notables here at Dera Kaira, he said that PPP government was pursuing the policy of reconciliation and taking concrete steps to steer the country out of crises. He said that a viable solution would be found out with consensus on the points presented by PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif.

He said that reformed general sales tax (RGST) bill had been deferred for the time-being, adding that it would be presented in the assembly after consultation with the coalition partners.
“It is a big problem that nobody is ready to pay tax to run the economic affairs of the country and when efforts are made to reform the existing tax system, some people started to cry out,” he said.
He lamented that these people do not tell us how to improve the tax system, how the country’s economic affairs should be run or how to break the begging bowl.
