Federal Minister for Population Welfare, Firdous Aashiq Awan has said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government is committed to empower women in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
“Women are facing a number of challenges in the society, such as economic, educational, institutional and social injustice etc,” she said.
Firdous Awan said that Prime Minister had announced government’s policy on women rights on Friday, in line with BB’s vision.
The policy would be helpful in empowering women by economically, she maintained.
She apprised of various programmes pertaining to women emancipation, including transport facility for working women and students from rural to urban centers.
She urged the politicians, civil society, religious scholars and journalists to play their role in ensuring rights of women.
