SU continues facilitation of admission seekers

The Open House, initiated by the management of University of Sindh (SU) for providing information and guidance to fresh candidates for admissions to Bachelors, Masters and MS/ M.Phil Degree Programmes for academic session 2011 continued functioning for second day on Sunday.

The University Administration has arranged the Open House at the Institute of Sindhology, at its Allama I.I. Kazi Campus, Jamshoro.

The Open House, first ever to be introduced by  any public sector university of the country has been established for  the guidance of fresh candidates and also to familiarise them about the university as well as  its degree programmes.

Through the Open House, the parents of students are also being invited to visit the University and to meet with the academia, faculty members as well as staff members.

On the second day on Sunday, a large number of candidates who desired to apply for admissions to various disciplines under Bachelors, Masters or MS/ M.Phil Degree Programmes visited the Open House and submitted their admission forms.

The senior faculty members of various disciplines guided the candidates about seeking admissions to various disciplines as well as academic programmes, course work, importance of degree and other importance aspects.

The Deans of different Faculties, Heads of the Institutes and Departments, Registrar Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Director Admissions Akhtar Ahmed Memon, Director Institute of Sindhology Muhammad Qasim Maka and others were also present on the occasion.

The Directorate of Admissions has set up eight information counters headed by senior faculty members of various disciplines as well as staff members of the Admissions Office to provide information to fresh candidates in connection with the admissions, system of pre- entry test, importance of disciplines in which the candidate wish to seek admission, job opportunities in the concerned degree programmes.

The faculty members also provided information to candidates about the facilities of hostels, internet, co- curricular activities, sports, and library facilities.

The arrangement of Open House is also a part of the academic reforms introduced by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazir A. Mughal in the University, which was already discussed and approved by the Executive Council.

The functioning of the Open House will continue up to September 22, 2010 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at the Institute of Sindhology, where the faculty members of various disciplines would be available to guide the candidates.
