KP Assembly demands strict action on cricket players

The Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday demanded strict action, including leveling treason charges and confiscation of property, against members of Pakistan Cricket team found to be involved in match fixing.

The assembly session held here under the chairmanship of Speaker, Kiramatullah Khan Chagharmati.

The assembly members were much angry over involvement of cricket team players in match fixing and said the national team members have earned disgrace for the whole nation.

“These greedy players should be arrested and tried under treason charges besides confiscating all their assets including property,” demands Sikander Sherpao of PPP(S). He said the amount generated through sale of confiscated property of cricket players should be diverted to flood relief fund. He also demanded imposing lifetime ban on these players. He said the whole nation is feeling shame and disgrace over the act of cricket players.

A number of MPAs took part in the debate and condemned cricket players over the shameful act.

They demaneded the federal government to cut short visit of cricket team and arrest all of them for holding thorough investigation.

The concerned authorities should now take appropriate action so that such shameful acts should not be repeated by any one.
