Junaid appointed senior hockey team coach in place of Manzoor

Former olympian, Khawaja Muhammad Junaid was named manager of Pakistan senior hockey team for Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in place of Manzoor Junior who has not been released by his department PIA.

” If Manzoor Junior is available in this time period then he will join the Pakistan Team as Manager”, said Secretary, Pakistan Hockey Federation, Muhammad Asif Bajwa here on Thursday.

He said India bound Pak team will assemble here on September 26 and will leave for New Delhi on September 29 to feature in Commonwealth games being held in October.

“Zeeshan Ashraf and Kashif Javed will be part of the team after clearing fitness tests which will be taken on September 27″,said Bajwa adding” the first phase of the training of Pakistan team for Commonwealth Games and Asian Games has completed successfully.

“PHF is using its full resources to improve the performance of the team and we are very much hopeful that will achieve our set targets”.

He said that our experience to visit India earlier this year to participate in World Cup was very successful and we are going to take part in Commonwealth Games as per schedule.

Pakistan team also got the NOC from the Government regarding participation of Pak team.

Asif Bajwa said that 1.3 million Rupees was raised from the fund raising match between Pakistan and Holland in Netherlands, while more then 22 million Euros was raised by the Dutch NGO Giro 555 for the flood victims in Pakistan.
