Hashmi urges politicians to help flood affectees

Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi urged politicians to ensure speedy rehabilitation in flooded areas to save people from upcoming winter.

In a press conference here at his residence on Sunday, he urged politicians to shun differences and launch joint efforts to facilitate the poor masses. It is our responsibility to ensure security and identity of the country, he added.

To a query on a change in government, he said politicians would have to improve their character and performance otherwise there would be such voices. He said that politicians who had authority to take decisions would have to evolve policies for the welfare of the poor masses.

He lamented that the poor of the country were becoming poorer day by day and the rich were exploiting the situation. He also announced a movement against those who plundered money through illegal means.

About mid-term polls, he said although it was not an undemocratic demand yet politicians would have to find a solution to public problems.

Javed Hashmi thanked Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif for offering him treatment abroad. Hashmi added that the amount which would have been spent on his treatment belonged to the poor masses and it should be spent on the welfare of flood-hit people.

He also thanked people who prayed for his speedy recovery.
