Govt urged to release funds to HEC

The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) fully endorsed the recent demand made by the Vice Chancellors (VCs) Committee in its recent meeting in Islamabad seeking early release of the requisite funds to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), it was officially declared by the ASA here on Monday.

A meeting of ASA, chaired by Prof. Muhammad Iqbal, President of the Association, expressed full solidarity with the VCs committee.

The meeting reiterated full support to the decisions taken in VCs committee meeting held in Islamabad recently.

“The act of stoppage of funds to HEC might create problems particularly for the students who are studying abroad on scholarships, and in general for students who are studying in various universities across the country,” the meeting maintained.

The meeting assured that the ASA and all of its members would favor and support the decisions of VCs committee whatever its outcome might be in future in the larger interest of the teaching staff as well as students of the universities across the country including AJK.

The meeting also been declared to participate in the proposed welfare programs and campaign for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims.
