Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association, Punjab and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (south zone), has criticised the proposed imposition of value added tax (VAT).
Newly elected vice chairman of PCGA, south zone, Nawab Shahzad, demanded duty free import of ginning machinery in Pakistan, while calling for business friendly policies, particularly to facilitate small investors as this would enable them spread the ginning production across the country.
He also stressed reduction in tariffs of electricity and gas, besides import of modern machinery in the country.
The office bearers of cotton ginners association expressed their grief over the loss caused by devastating floods in the country.
They said the industry was already in trouble; therefore the rulers must introduce investor-friendly policies to avoid any further damage.
