Djokovic ousts Federer, books Open final with Nadal

Novak Djokovic saved two match points in the 10th game of the fifth set and rallied to defeat 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer 5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 on Saturday to reach the US Open final.

The 23-year-old Serbian third seed advanced to Sunday’s championship-match showdown against world number one Rafael Nadal, who ousted Russian 12th seed Mikhail Youzhny 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in an earlier semi-final at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“Anything I have left I will leave on the court,” Djokovic said. “I’m sure I will find the strength to give my best. It’s going to be a fantastic feeling.

“I’m sorry for all the ones who wanted to see Roger and Rafa in the final,” Djokovic said. “I didn’t think about that too much.”
