3-day anti Polio campaign ends

The 3-day anti Polio campaign has been successfully completed in the federal capital on Wednesday.

However, the children who have been missed to be administered the vaccine for any reason will be covered for the next two days.

An official of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Directorate of Health Services (DHS) said that the special feature of the Polio campaign was incorporated on the directive of Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Alahi under which Islamabad Polio Eradication committee meeting was convened before the launch of the campaign in order to avoid any gape to be encounter during the three-day drive.

He said that this has only been possible by the personal interest of Chairman CDA who thanked all the stake holders who had assisted CDA during this campaign.

He said that Chairman CDA also appreciated the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) for efforts on war footing basis to achieve the target for the administration of polio drops to the children under five years of age.

According to independent observers, 98 per cent children under 5-year age in the capital were vaccinated during August 2010 polio campaign.
