18th Amendment case to be taken up after Sept 14


The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned hearing of a set of petitions over certain provisions of the 18th Amendment till date in office.

A 17-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry noted in its order that as the new judicial year was opening from Sept 14 and the cases of other litigants were fixed for hearing, including the urgent ones and on account of other professional commitments of other members of the bench, the Registrar office would put a date for hearing after Sept 14.

Salman Akram Raja, counsel for a members of civil society, who appeared as intervener, would resume his arguments on next date of hearing.
