Fool proof transparent system for flood relief evolved: President Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday  said that a fool proof system has been evolved for transparent distribution  of flood aid among the victims. Every citizen will have access to all relevant information on the web about the source and quantum of aid whether in cash or in kind received and  its onward distribution through various agencies and government departments, he said in a meeting with Ms Isabel Guerrero, Vice President of the World Bank for South Asian region, who called on him here.
The meeting was also attended by the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Secretary General to the President Salman Farooqui, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Hammad, Secretary Finance Salman Siddiq, Secretary to President Malik Asif Hayat and Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar.
The President said that the government was deeply conscious of the fact that the success of the relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction operation depended also on the trust of the donors that their donations were utilized for the purpose and the confidence of the victims that every penny meant for them was being spent on them.
With this in mind, plans had been devised to ensure that complete web based information was available to everyone, on the one hand, and all the stakeholders including the provinces were on board in the distribution of relief goods, on the other, he said.
The World Bank Vice President commiserated with the President over the loss of human lives and colossal material damages and said that the Bank would assist Pakistan in every way possible. She said that the WB will also assist Pakistan at the donors’ forums for raising necessary finances.
