Relief efforts in progress in flood-hit areas of Sindh

Evacuation operations by Pakistan Navy search and rescue teams are in progress at Keti Bandar, Tando Hafiz, Karo Chan, Hassan Shoro and Goth Arbab Obaya areas.

A Pakistan Navy statement here on Wednesday said that the relief camps at Khairpur, Sukkur, Surjani Bund and Tando Hafiz are working at full capacity.

Relief efforts also continue in Ali Abad, Petaro and adjacent areas where relief and medical camps are providing accommodation and medical assistance to the rescued people with basic amenities.

During last 24 hours, 500 stranded people were evacuated to safer places. 300 people were rescued from Goth Rajoo Nizamani by two search and rescue teams operating in the area. PN hovercraft, while conducting rescue mission in Goth Arbab Obaya, evacuated 200 persons to safer locations.

The number of total evacuations till now has reached up to 109,000. PN rescue team operating in Lower Petaro Goth also evacuated 150 people stranded in the area.

Medical teams placed in Sukkur, Khairpur and Surjani, provided medical aid to 200 more patients. Till now, 10,200 persons have been provided medical treatment for various diseases.

Three search and rescue teams are on the alert in Larkana to meet any eventuality in case Shahdadkot Bund breaches. Two rescue teams in Qambar Shahdad area are putting efforts to protect city bund.

Pak Marines are continuously monitoring situation at Munarki and Surjani Bunds in district Thatta.

Additional rescue teams and necessary equipment have also reached Sujawal to augment flood relief efforts.

A PN truck carrying 3,750 Kilograms of relief goods reached Thatta today. Another truck carrying 5,900 Kilogram of relief goods is reaching Sukkur.

A convoy of five trucks with 20 tonnes of ration and relief goods has also been sent to Petaro.

During next 24 hours, search and rescue operations will continue in Qambar Shahdadkot and Thatta district.

Relief efforts and distribution of relief goods will continue in Khairpur, Sukkur, Baghan, Surjani, Monarki and other affected areas.
