Brazil donates $1.2m for flood-hit people in Pakistan

Brazil will donate 1.2 million dollars to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and World Food Program for the relief activities in flood-hit areas.

The UNHCR has received $500,000 from Brazil for its relief efforts. The donation has been earmarked for the provision of shelter and rehabilitation of schools to reach the most vulnerable individuals.

Mengesha Kebede, UNHCR representative in a message said, “We can give tents to more than 2,300 families or family kits of relief items like mosquito nets, plastic sheets and cooking sets to improve conditions for the flood victims until they can return home.”

He termed it an important contribution to Pakistan in its hour of need and an excellent example of “south-south solidarity”.
