8 die of cholera, other epidemics in Jaffarabad

At least eight persons, including two children, died of cholera and other epidemics after deadly floods multiplied sufferings of already ravaged people in Jaffarabad District of Balochistan.

Floodwater level in Dera Allahyar, district headquarter of Jaffarabad, is constantly rising, a private news channel reported quoting sources on Tuesday.

After destruction of Katchi Abadies, the houses located in city areas have started collapsing gradually by floodwater, the sources said.

The district is disconnected with other parts of country for last 11 days while abject scarcity of drinking water and shortage of food and medicines have let situation go from bad to worse.

Meanwhile, Balochistan provincial minister Saleem Khan Khosa held Irrigation Department responsible for flood devastation.
