60 villages inundated in flood water in Shikarpur

Flood water continued to wreak havoc across the country as water submerged Shikarpur, destroying more than 60 villages.

According to a private TV channel, More than 16 breaches in Begari and Sindh Canal in district Shikarpur have not been built, even after 13 days have passed.

Over 16 villages are inundated with flood water: after water passing through Shikarpur, into Golo Daro, Jacobabad and Indus Highway.

The flood also devastated agriculture crops of the district.

Thousands of people were stranded in 50 villages of katcha area, they are facing shortage of food items and other necessities.

Meanwhile, Sultankot town with a population of 70,000 was also inundated on Monday, while Shikarpur city was still under flood threat.

The cut to the railway track at Lodran caused flooding of the city grid station. Besides, more villages of Shikarpur were also flooded.

Sindh government and the Irrigation Department are engaged in rescue activities and moving flood victims to safer places.

According to Irrigation Department officials, the floodwater of Begari Canal entered Khirthar Canal, which resulted in the overflow of water which caused breaking the Garang Regulator.
