Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday said the government would not tolerate any embezzlement in the distribution of relief amounts among the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Addressing a press conference here at the Parliament House, the minister said the entire process of disbursement of amounts to the IDPs was transparent, however, strict action would be taken against the official if there is any compliant against.
He said if anyone has compliant against any individual, the compliant should be filed with the government departments and stringent action would be taken if anyone was found guilty.
“The government, during the incumbent week, would announce the schedule of the return of the IDPs. Most of the areas in the operation zone has been cleared and only some extreme hilly areas are yet to be cleared and soon all the areas would be cleared,” he said.
He said presently the operation is in final stage, adding that except some small pockets, the security forces have taken over the control of all other areas.
The minister added that all those IDPs who have not received amounts would get the amount soon so as they could return to their homes.
He said the government has so far disbursed Rs. 500 million among 50,000 internally displaced families in a transparent and judicious manner.
Referring to a question raised by chief of PPP (S) Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, the minister said 1,09,000 visa cards have been completed under the financial assistance of Rs 25000 to each IDPs family.
He paid glowing tributes to IDPs for rendering sacrifices for the national cause and also recalled important role of their ancestors in creation of Pakistan.
