100 attend pro-Tibet protest in Sydney

Demonstrators burned Chinese flags and chanted ‘Free Tibet’ as they protested outside Beijing’s consulate in Sydney on Tuesday against the bloodshed in Tibet.
Carrying placards reading “I love Tibet” and “Please help Tibet,” the crowd of about 100 mostly Tibetans were held back from the inner-city compound by about 20 New South Wales police.
Police said the protest was relatively peaceful, with no arrests.
At a pro-Tibet protest in Sydney on Saturday, one man was charged with assaulting a police officer after violence erupted.
Days of protests over China’s rule of Tibet turned into violent rioting in Lhasa last week.
