Bhagwandas allowed hearing petition PPPP

Justice Rana Bhagwandas on Monday allowed hearing of a petition filed by the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) alleging that millions of eligible voters were not enrolled on the electoral lists prepared by the Election Commission.
The judge directed the concerned department of the Supreme Court to fix the petition for hearing on July 26.
Justice Bhagwandas held a preliminary hearing in his chamber. Allowing the petition for regular hearing the judge issued notices to the Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commission, the Secretary Law and Justice, the Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Director General NADRA.
Advocate Sardar Muhammad Latif Khosa, who had filed the petition, appeared before the judge and presented arguments against the objections that were raised by the Registrar, who had returned the petition on July 4.
Khosa, who is also a PPPP senator, contended that non-enrolment of millions of eligible voters was against the spirit of the fundamental rights.
Justice Bhagwandas over-ruled the Registrar’s objections and allowed hearing of the petition filed by PPPP under Article 184 (3) of the Constitution.
